Dear Friends and Colleagues,

As an artist and photographer who has dedicated my life to capturing the beauty of form, light, and human expression, I have been fortunate to witness history unfold through my lens. My journey photographing Barack Obama — from his days as a senator to both terms as President — remains one of the most profound experiences of my career.

During those early campaign days, the energy was electric. There was a collective heartbeat in the air — a rhythm of hope and anticipation that pulsed through crowds from city to city. I remember the faces illuminated not just by camera flashes, but by belief — people of every background chanting, singing, and holding signs that echoed change. It felt as though the country was breathing in fresh air after years of stagnation. The mood was unmistakable: America stood on the edge of a new chapter, ready to elect its first Black president.

To photograph that journey was more than documentation — it was a dialogue between art, history, and the human spirit. Each frame revealed a nation in motion, filled with optimism, courage, and possibility.

Years later, that same optimism found me again within the walls of the White House. Twice, I received invitations to photograph moments of national celebration — when the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Cavaliers both won their championships. Standing there in the East Wing, surrounded by my childhood heroes from the Buckeyes, LeBron James and the Cavaliers, and the President himself — the same man whose rise I had documented from the campaign trail — I felt an almost surreal convergence of art, sport, and leadership.

It was, in every sense, an anomaly — Georgio Sabino III amid greatness: championship coaches, top-tier athletes, and the President of the United States, all gathered in one moment of shared triumph. To have President Obama sign the very photographs I took of him years before was beyond extraordinary. I remember thinking, Wow — amazement, unbelievability! This was not only history, but poetry in motion.

Those days stay with me not just as images, but as emotions — the awe in the crowd, the unity of the nation, the sense that for a brief, shining time, we all believed nothing was impossible. Through my art, I strive to preserve that feeling — the intersection of culture, excellence, and hope that defines the American spirit at its best.
