Receiving Equal Opportunities in Education, Basquait vs Sabino Art

The paintings serve as a visual representation of the struggles and triumphs of disadvantaged youths who have overcome the obstacles and achieved academic success.

In contrast, Jean-Michel Basquiat’s works of art focus on various social issues such as racism, inequality, and poverty. His paintings are a commentary on the social and political issues of his time, particularly in the 1980s. Basquiat’s art often incorporates elements of African, Caribbean, and American cultures, and his work challenges the traditional Eurocentric views of art.

While Basquiat’s art does not specifically address the issue of educational genocide, it shares a similar theme of addressing the struggles of marginalized communities. Both GS3’s graduate thesis and Basquiat’s art highlight the importance of resilience, determination, and overcoming obstacles in order to achieve success. Both works of art demonstrate a commitment to social justice and equity, and serve as a call to action for creating a more just and equitable society.

The Tour Photographer

Baiden Interviewer: Hi Georgio, it’s great to have you here today. You have quite an impressive career as a tour photographer for Jill Scott and the Alize concert. Can you tell us a little bit about how you got started in photography?

Georgio Sabino III: Thank you for having me. It’s been quite a journey. I actually started in photography when I was living in Cleveland, Ohio. I had just won a spot in a loft building that the mayor, Michael White, had invested $2 million into reviving the arts community. I had a love for art and composition, so when I got my first camera, I taught myself how to use it and started taking photos of anything and everything around me. I was fascinated by the way that I could capture a moment in time with just a click of a button.

Interviewer: That’s amazing. So how did you end up working as a tour photographer for Jill Scott and the Alize concert?

Georgio Sabino III: Well, one day, Jill Scott’s team was in Cleveland, Ohio, where I was living at the time, and they saw some of my work. They were impressed by what they saw and asked if I would be interested in touring with Jill as her photographer. Of course, I jumped at the opportunity and ended up touring with her for three years.

Interviewer: That’s incredible. What was it like touring with Jill Scott and photographing some of the biggest names in the music industry, like Queen Latifah and Erykah Badu?

Georgio Sabino III: It was amazing. Jill has such an incredible voice. Her voice has been described as “rich, warm, and full of emotion.” She has a unique way of delivering her lyrics that really captures the audience. And as for photographing some of the biggest names in the industry, it was a dream come true. I got to meet and photograph some of my idols, like Chaka Khan and Roberta Flack.

Interviewer: Wow, that sounds like an incredible experience. And what about the after-parties? Can you describe what those were like?

Georgio Sabino III: The after-parties were amazing. There were always drinks and toasts and a general sense of merriment. It was a chance for everyone to let their hair down and enjoy each other’s company after a long day of performing. It really felt like a family.

Interviewer: That sounds wonderful. So you’ve gone on to photograph some pretty impressive people since then, like five U.S. presidents and 13 billionaires. Can you tell us a little bit about that?

Georgio Sabino III: Yes, I’ve been fortunate enough to have some incredible opportunities since touring with Jill. I’ve photographed everyone from Jay Z and Beyoncé to Maya Angelou and B.B. King. I’ve also photographed weddings all across the country, from East Indian weddings to traditional American ones. I even had the privilege of being the principal photographer for George Fraser and PowerNetworking conference.

Interviewer: That’s really impressive. And you’ve accomplished all of this as a self-taught photographer?

Georgio Sabino III: Yes, I taught myself everything I know about photography. I learned about aperture, shutter, and light through trial and error, and I credit Bern Webb for helping me along the way. And I had the opportunity to learn from John Isaac, who spoke about the importance of composition and not just keeping up with technology.

Interviewer: Well, you certainly seem to have mastered the art of composition. Your photographs are truly stunning. Thank you so much for sharing your incredible journey with us, Georgio.

Georgio Sabino III: Thank you for having me. It’s been a pleasure.

Jill Scott – Tour Photographer Georgio Sabino III

Georgio Sabino III (GS3) is a self-taught photographer who has captured some of the most memorable moments of Jill Scott’s concerts and tours. He has followed her from the rooftops of New York to the stages of Radio City Music Hall, Chastain Park Atlanta, Cleveland Ohio and many other places. He has also photographed other stars like Queen Latifah, Erykah Badu, Chaka Khan, Tyler Perry and Roberta Flack.

GS3 was discovered by Jill Scott’s management team in Cleveland Ohio, where he had just won a juried competition to live in one of the 20 lofts that were part of a $2 million investment by Mayor Michael White to revive the arts community. GS3’s love of art gave him an understanding of composition, which he applied to his photography skills. He learned how to use a camera by himself, experimenting with aperture, shutter speed and light.

He was hired to take photos of the setup and breakdown of the concert as well as the marketing of Alize company, which sponsored the tour. He also got access to backstage scenes and after parties where he mingled with celebrities and enjoyed drinks and toast. GS3 said working for Jill Scott was like a dream come true.

“I was amazed by her voice,” he said. “She has a four-octave range that can go from C3 to C71. She can sing soulful ballads, funky grooves and hip-hop anthems with ease. She is also a poet, an actress and a model23. She is an inspiration to me.”

GS3 also credited Bill Brown from Consider It Done Management for being an amazing person to work for. He said Brown gave him opportunities to photograph other clients like Floetry in NYC at Sounds of Brazil (SOB’s). He also learned from John Isaac, a former chief photographer for UNICEF who came to Cleveland and spoke about photography.

“He told me it’s not about keeping up with technology but about getting the composition right,” GS3 said.

Since then, GS3 has gone on to photograph five presidents: Obama, Clinton, Biden, Peña Nieto (the last Mexican president) and Trump. He has also exhibited his work in galleries and museums across the country.

GS3 said he is grateful for his journey as a photographer and hopes to continue capturing moments that matter.

“I love what I do,” he said. “I feel blessed.”

Art in Embassies, U.S. Department of State Featuring Georgio Sabino III

Artistic Jungle: Green Pastures

As the artist behind the works on these walls, I strive to capture the beauty of nature and the reality of life and death in my pieces. The Butterflies and Dragonflies II collection explores the jungle that exists all around us, with color and shape conveying both the vibrancy of life and the inevitability of death. My latest project takes this one step further, creating interactive 2D and 3D silk dresses that are brought to life through AR technology. By using digital mixed media with photographs and paintings, I hope to provide viewers with a 3D virtual experience that showcases the wonder and magic of the natural world. Whether through depictions of hummingbirds or other living creatures, my goal is to inspire a sense of wonder and appreciation for the world around us. And with the honor of showcasing my work at the Art in Embassies program, I hope to bring that message to a wider audience than ever before.
